President's Page
Northeast LA Reading Council's February 12, 2011 meeting was awesome! Thanks to all who attended and helped make the meeting a success. The business meeting was very productive. Everyone is encouraged to attend the Technology Fair at West Monroe High School on Saturday, March 5, 2011 for another day of Professional Development. NELRC is partnering with others in hosting the Technology Fair. In the past, this has truly been a day of professional development at the highest level of expertise by area educators.
The Februay 12 Professional Development presented by Kim Shackelford, Instructional Coach for Lincoln Parish Schools, titled "There's a Wolf at the Door: Integrating LIteracy in the Mathematics Classroom" was a highly motivational hands-on session enjoyed by our NELRC members and the Mathematics teachers we invited to be our guests. Kim gave the group no less than twelve instructional strategies ready to be used in the classroom on Monday morning. Thanks Kim for a very worthwhile presentation!
